Firle Place
Home to the Gage family for over 500 years, Firle Place is an elegant stately
home with a Georgian facade and a Tudor past, nestled in the lee of the South
Downs surrounded by gardens and parkland. It houses stunning works of art
including paintings by Van Dyck, Gainsborough and Reynolds, as well as an
exquisite collection of Sevres porcelain and the famous Melbourne cabinets by

Date Fri 18 th September
We aim to keep the cost of these outings to a minimum and so won’t be booking
any coaches but will travel to Firle Place by car (sharing where necessary) and
by train to London for the Sir John Soane museum.
We will also try and arrange a suitable place for lunch for both venues which
will enable members to get to know each other but this will be entirely optional.
To make communication as easy as possible for both events we are planning to
create an Outings WhatsApp group.
If you are interested in coming to either of these events please contact Paula Bolton or Peter Lowe and let them know whether you would like to join the Outings Group and which outings you would like to join. Please also provide your mobile phone
number if you are happy to join the WhatsApp group of proposed venues for visits with a difference to follow.
