Goudhurst & District u3a is part of a national organisation dedicated to encouraging its members to enjoy learning for pleasure. Our aim is: Learn, Laugh and Live!
The u3a is a learning co-operative of people who are no longer in full-time employment and who share educational, creative and leisure activities. It is a wonderful way to meet people and get the most out of life. Many long term friendships have been made that might not have done so had it not been for the u3a, something I can definitely attest to.
Goudhurst and District u3a proudly boasts around 150 members with more joining all the time. Our activities are mainly organised in small groups known as Interest Groups, which meet regularly in venues around Goudhurst or in members' homes. We currently have over 20 Interest Groups and through sharing our passion for knowledge, members learn from each other using their skills and experience.
Our general meetings are held at 2.30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in Goudhurst Village Hall, where a warm welcome is always guaranteed, together with a knowledgeable and interesting speaker, refreshments and a chance to get to know other members and find out more about our interest groups and activities.

Our membership year starts on 1st November and is prorated if you join part way through the year. This covers the cost of our monthly speakers, a quarterly magazine and allows you to belong to as many interest groups as you want. The fee is discounted for each month that has passed in the membership year.
Non-members can attend monthly meetings for £3.00, payable at the door; these guests can also attend 2 taster sessions of an interest group at no cost.
I do hope that you would like to join us and enjoy what we have to offer; looking forward to meeting you.

Groups
Interest Groups are the life blood of U3As. They are groups of members who choose to pursue an interest together. The size of such groups varies from as few as two or three to hundreds. The way each group operates, its choice of venue and subject matter, is determined by the group members themselves, operating within the rules of its U3A.
Group Leaders are individuals or several individual members of a group who take on responsibility for its operation. Sometimes there may be one Group Leader, though experience suggests at least two such persons work more efficiently; sometimes the leadership may vary, pass from one member to another or be shared among a number of members.
Groups’ Co-ordinators are members of U3As who undertake to oversee and support the working of the Interest Groups and to assist in creating and facilitating the work of all such Interest Groups in a U3A. They will be members of the executive Committee of their U3A and may well help on a wider basis, co-operating with other U3As to the mutual benefit of all.
Information on Interest Groups including meeting times, durations, frequency, venues (e.g. members’ homes or other), costs, and so on, can be found below and from the Group Page by clicking on the highlighted Group name.
Group leaders can be contacted via email by clicking on their highlighted names on the Group Pages, or by emailing the Groups Co-ordinator .
